EMPOWERING
Hearts:
Meet Ande, our vibrant heart hero. $1 from every Surf and Turf Chimichurri App, Ande’s favorite, supports The Trawick Pediatric Cardiology Research Fund at Duke. Join us in championing little hearts – your generosity makes a difference.
TOTALED RAISED $189,763
Ande was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS.) HLHS is a severe congenital heart defect in which the left side of the heart is underdeveloped.
The Trawicks were told of this birth defect during a 20 week ultrasound and the diagnosis was later confirmed by Dr. Piers Barker, Ande’s Pediatric Cardiologist from Duke Children’s Hospital in Durham, NC. After three open heart surgeries ranging from 10 days after birth to age 3 and months spent in the hospital Ande has proven to us all that she is a resilient, vibrant, fighter.
Today, Ande is a typical little girl. She has a colorful personality, charismatic nature, is highly active, adores her big brother Jarrett, attends school, performs tap and ballet, and lives her little life to the fullest.
CFSC founders Evans and Nikki Trawick established The Trawick Pediatric Cardiology Research Fund in 2018 to support pediatric cardiology research at Duke Children’s Hospital. Your generosity will help provide valuable research needed to improve the quality of care and treatment for their daughter Ande and the thousands of children affected each year.
